Designer maker of bespoke contemporary furniture
One-off commissions created by Rupert Williamson of fine art furniture in specially chosen hardwoods
In the mid 1990's the work of architects such as Frank Gehry and the use of decostruction inspired Rupert Williamson's work. This together with the use of naturalistic forms he created a number of asymetrical pieces of furniture, some useing wood in a raw state leaving the sawn marks made in the construction and giving a matt finish. This very different from earlier work that was highly polished. As with all his design work the use of contrasting materials is a dominant feature.
